We have already mentioned the unlimited potential of sea kayaking, which stems from and is directly related to the experience and skills of the paddler.
But what is the optimal method to gain this experience in order to safely enjoy a short or longer cruise?
So let’s take things from the start…
Our suggestion to the prospective paddler is that he should contact an instructor, to discuss and create a training plan according to their goals, strengths, and weaknesses.
Sea kayak training is a multidimensional process that requires time, patience and consistency. Proper guidance saves the paddler effort, time, and most importantly, injuries. Paddling in a sea kayak does not cause injuries, as long as the technique is performed correctly. Not a particularly easy task, especially when we are alone and at the beginning of our career.
Further down, drawing on our experience we will present some basic techniques and safety rules, in order for someone to take his first steps at sea. In no case will this substitute the presence of an experienced rower next to us.

Even though our little solitary cruises constitute a most stress relieving experience and can offer solace, one or two marine comrades might come handy in our life at sea.
Apart from the given security that a person we share our paddle can offer, it will also help in our development. Their presence will make us get up from the couch, try a little more, share concerns and dreams and in the end win dreamy shared memories and a “bond” that will take us where we could never imagine. Most importantly, learning and practicing together various rescues as well as deal with possible damage will make us more capable of dealing with a mishap should it arrive.
Alone or with friends, there are some basic safety rules that we must observe and always keep in mind in order to enjoy kayaking and come back home with a smile.

Before analyzing what you will need to start sea kayaking, note that after each trip in the sea we must thoroughly check as well as wash all our equipment with fresh water to remove corrosive minerals.
A brief inventory of the necessary equipment follows.
